Next, research and choose a specific healthcare organization for your marketing plan. You could select the organization your currently work for, one you are familiar with, or one you would like to work for in the future. After selecting your HCO, conduct research online to locate the organization’s strategic plan and read its vision, mission, and values statements. Add the term strategic plan after the HCO’s name in the search engine box (e.g., Sharp Healthcare strategic plan) to narrow your search results.

In your assignment

  • State your choice of HCO and explain why it interests you.
  • State the organization’s vision, mission, and values statements
  • Discuss whether the organization’s purpose and priorities are clearly defined
  • Discuss whether the mission statement clearly separates the HCO from competing organizations.

 The first reason why the public sector is generally prohibited from striking is because of the Taft-Hartley Act of 1947, that was put in place and prohibited public, federal, judicial employees from being able to strike and the reasoning behind that was because it was so that the public employees couldn’t all strike or boycott federal and judicial systems, causing the United States to come crushing down; making it so certain positions are mandated to show up no matter what the reasoning is, so that the United States can keep functioning.
  I do and do not agree with this. I can’t say I choose one way or the other. I do think it is unfair that they should be forced to work with no pay, while other employees get to stay at home during shut downs. For that reason, I disagree with why they are not allowed to strike.
  But, I also see why they shouldn’t be allowed to strike and agree with why they can’t strike, because it would cripple the United States if we didn’t have any CIA, Secret Servicer, Department of Finance, Department of Justice, Department of Defense, EPA, TSA, etc., because the employees, even the essential employees, were not there to be able to do the necessary jobs, leaving the United States vulnerable to terrorist attacks and other serious issues.

Pay for Performance in America’s public schools is an extremely controversial issue. Although the process has made inroads in business and is a means to help determine promotions, pay, and retention it has not been so well received in the Public schholl systems. In Minnesota for example, some districts have stopped giving automatic raises for seniority and base 60% of all pay increases on employee performance. However, some plans have not worked. For example, Cincinnati teachers voted against a merit pay proposal and Philadelphia teachers gave their bonus checks to charity rather than cashing them.
