- Your patient has been admitted to the hospital with deep vein thrombosis (DVT). He suddenly develops sharp chest pain and has difficulty breathing. Based on his admission diagnosis, what complication of DVT might he be experiencing? Explain the pathophysiology of how this complication develops.
- You have been asked to talk with a community group about risk factors for development of hypertension. What are the risk factors? What can you teach this group about actions that can be taken to reduce risk factors?
B)Think about patients who may have exhibited tendencies toward one of the learning styles described by Kolb (diverger, assimilator, converger, accommodator). Or you can think of a hypothetical patient. Give an example of a teaching session, describing what content is to be taught (e.g., teaching a newly diagnosed diabetic teenager how to give him/herself an insulin injection). Discuss what approach might be useful for utilizing at least one of these learning styles. And remember…….be sure to cite references in your discussion.
